Per the NRCS soil map, the farm is categorized as 85-90% prime farmland. This very productive farm has excellent drainage consisting of mostly Class II and III Crockett, Annona loam, silty loam and Wilson soils. The Farm is a dryland farm with no current irrigation although there are pivots in the area. The farm receives an average yearly rainfall of 47-49 inches. WILDLIFE:
The farm is rich in wildlife including Whitetail deer, wild hogs, ducks, geese, and other wild game. The proximity to the Gambill Goose Refuge makes the farm an ideal location for the ducks and geese to feed in the morning and evenings. The current owner reports seeing Canada geese and Snow geese feeding on the farm throughout the winter, and the ponds thick with ducks. Wild hogs also frequent the timber breaks and will feed in the cultivated fields at times. Dove hunting when planted in corn and milo can rival any location in the state.
